Technical Sales Engineer

Full Time Hours.  Permanent position.

We require a talented and self-driven individual to join our team as a Technical Sales Engineer.  This role is predominantly office based but some travel for trade exhibitions and customer visits is required from time to time.

Overall Objective

The Technical Sales Engineer position is to support, offer technical advice, and solutions for the customer, internal and external sales, and marketing team in contributing to meet the overall sales and marketing objectives.

Working with other departments internally, suppliers, and external group companies to provide prompt and succinct customer feedback, recommend improvement processes to advance response times.

As directed provide training and support to the Customer Service Team (CST) and Sales and Marketing team in all technical aspects of the company’s products and services.

Keeping updated with industry and competitor technical activity, keeping the Senior Technical Sales Engineer and management informed of developments.

Main Role and Responsibilities

  • Strong technical knowledge and expertise combined with commercial orientation, able to demonstrate a professional approach with all customers, suppliers, colleagues, Group companies, and when representing the company at exhibitions etc.
  • Continually acquiring knowledge and data on industry sectors that the company supplies or could supply to enable marketing and the sales team to promote Wire Belt products and services to meet the sales and marketing objectives.
  • Liaise with Sales and Customer Service Team, offering technical support to maximise the opportunity to quote and close the sale.
  • Provide technical support, training, and advice to customers, colleagues in Production, Technical/Design, Sales and Marketing plus other Wire Belt Group companies.
  • Support customers with projects, technical issues, training, concerns, resolving them to the customer’s satisfaction in a timely manner.
  • Specify products when purchased from outside suppliers to complete customer’s orders.
  • Quote and quote chasing – Deal with quotes in accordance with the Customer First Charter standards. Be able to quote all products and support the Customer Services Team.
  • Deliver assigned projects and reports within an agreed time scale.
  • Technical sales visits, supporting Field Sales Team (FST), distributors, customers and the Sales and Marketing Manager as and when required.
  • Work with Senior Technical Sales Engineer and marketing to produce technical and training material that supports distributors, customers, FST, Web, and the internal Customer Services Team for the Wire Belt portfolio of products.
  • Identify new product opportunities or markets through interaction with distributors, customers, FST and competitor activity.
  • Ensure Wire Belt Company Ltd administration systems are correctly maintained and completed in a timely manner.
  • Deliver first class customer service, through developing, and fostering a team spirit and promoting the Wire Belt ethos with colleagues.
  • Develop tools and systems with colleagues that delivers improved levels of customer service.
  • Liaise with the Customer Services Team to ensure that urgent requests from customers due to breakdown are technically checked out and the solution is correct.
  • Improve Customer First Charter standards through recommending technical sales improvements.
  • Prompt feedback on Customer Complaints and Process Improvement Request (PIR’s) and keep the Senior Technical Sales Engineer updated with their status.
  • Flexibility – you should expect to work the hours required to achieve business goals, which may include the possibility of overnight or weekend working. UK and ROW travel is expected with this role to include exhibitions, training, and technical visits.
  • Upon request attend any exhibitions and applicable meetings, plus, any other duties consistent with the role where required.

Education/Qualifications/Experience

  • A degree in engineering or QBE and qualification.
  • Good level of Math’s and English.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in processing industries gained through working with customers.
  • Experience in Technical Sales, manufacturing, food processing sector or similar would be desirable.
  • Possess multi-industry knowledge and experience gained through time working with customers on site.
  • Additional languages would be advantageous.
